Burst Into Flames, Not Tears

We live life through a million emotions.

Well, research states that there are six basic emotions. Anger, fear, surprise, disgust, happiness and sadness. Some argue there are only four and some state, it’s eight. Be as it may. We are consumed by all and in large or small measures by a few of them.

Though how many times, have you said to yourself, I mustn’t be too happy or sadness is waiting round the corner for me. Strange, we don’t feel that way for happiness. We don’t catch ourselves saying.’ Hey, I’m sad but I know Happiness awaits me, soon!’
We love wallowing in it. Or seething with anger and resentment, enough to burn every pore and contract every muscle in our body, living on the edge of our own sanity. Is it worth it?

When he came to me, he had lost his entire world. His wife passed away in an accident along with his 3 year old girl. His parents, who were travelling with them, didn’t have it any better. They are both confined to a bed, paralysed and broken in more ways than one.

He was a wreck. On the brink of giving up his own life but forcing to carry on for his parents. He had me in tears when I tried to put together the pieces. His monopoly in the business he ran was reduced to a loss.

He was broken in the truest sense. In every way. Words had no effect. It was a long process which seemed like years. The scars were too fresh and ran deep. We had several conversations which always ended in, ‘Why me?’ Gradually, reality and rationality took their course. The hurt hasn’t been assuaged, completely. But, the will to be more than a survivor took over.

His parents are recovering and learning to live through the pain they see in their only child’s eyes. Hoping to see the same laughter, happiness and joy he spread into his little world.

He may have lost the battle but the war to survive rages. Today, the sadness, anger and disgust are things of the past, almost. Credit goes to his will to let all the tears flow and empty themselves.

He’s more at peace, now. It took an amazing support system of friends, loving parents and most of all, his own will and decision to be victorious, to turn those tears into a raging flame of passion to live life as the gift it is. He looks forward to the dawn of each new day which holds a promise to a new life. A new beginning.

No matter what life throws at you – Burst into flames – flames of passion, not tears.

Wish you an excellent week!
