Fear…Makes Dreams Impossible

Despite our brave and strong exteriors, each one of us is riddled with the ghost of our fears. You might be a top grossing actor, a dynamic politician, an inspiring industrialist, a sassy celebrity or a humble homemaker. I won’t even get to the fears that are instilled in our children and pets through admonishments to stay on course.

You’d think why do ‘they’ need to fear? They have it all. Well, fears are never about now, they’re about the morrow. What could possibly lie ahead?

Let me pose another question.

How do you handle your spouse’s or children’s failure? Do you decide to look at it as a passing phenomenon and truly, encourage that ‘losing is fine’? Or do you keep it aside as a reminder of their inadequacies – later? To cite how they fell short? Sometimes, it happens to all of us. It is done involuntarily and at times, it’s deliberate. Creating the fear to perform, to be judged, rejected and hurt.

Why aren’t we made to feel that, ‘it’s alright’. It is all about learning – from the falls, the mis-steps, the mistakes because they are, essentially taking us to the space we belong.

Stop worrying. Like a baby who needs to fall to understand the art of balance, it’s okay to fall. To pick up and simply try again. FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. Seriously. It’s okay to feel it but not be consumed by it.

In the words of Swami Vivekananda, If you win, you can lead, if you lose, you can guide.

Let your fear be the light that guides.

Here’s wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
